Measles Activity
Measles is still common in many parts of the world. In 2011, the CDC noted a high number of reported measles cases in the U.S. linked to outbreaks abroad.
Pertussis Activity
During 2012, increased pertussis cases or outbreaks were reported in a majority of states in the U.S.
In California, in 2010, there were the most reported cases of pertussis in 63 years. Sadly, there were 10 infant deaths.

1. Many cases of influenza, pneumococcal, and varicella disease occur each year in California, but unlike the other vaccine-preventable diseases, reporting of individual case of these diseases in not legally required.
2. CRS (Congenital Rubella Syndrome).
3. HIB (Haemophilus influenzae type B) <30 years of age. Haemophilus influenzae disease reporting began in March, 1989 — first complete year of date is 1990.
