In 2010, several states reported an increase in cases and/or localized outbreaks of pertussis, including a state-wide epidemic in California.
In California, in 2010, there were the most reported cases of pertussis in 63 years. Sadly, there were 10 infant deaths. In 2011, California continues to see relatively increased levels of pertussis disease activity throughout the state.
